A Momentary Meditation for 2021

Taking a breath to start the New Year right

Mmmm…. I sit here with a steaming mug of tea and the emotional swell of an epic movie soundtrack pouring softly from the Bluetooth speaker beside me. The early morning air inside my apartment has a slightly crispy edge, but instead of getting up to turn on my heater, I tuck my feet into cozy slippers and wrap a blanket around my shoulders as I cradle my fingers more snugly around my hot mug. I don’t feel like leaving my cocoon right now – I’m pondering.

A new year is starting.

It HAS started, in fact.

What will I do with this brand new, shiny year of 2021? What adventures will overtake me? What friends, old and new, will I get to meet with at the inn? What goals and dreams will I get to work towards together with Guy and the rest of the Brewery Gulch Inn family?

The music seems to carry my mind through one bright possibility after another. There are some sweet scenes that curl up the corners of my mouth, private moments that shimmer with delicate joy. There are hikes and strolls and peaceful moments watching the ocean for whales that I find myself eager to get back to. There are new trails and experiences that pull me towards them with the subtle call of the unknown and unexplored. There are new restaurants whose menus I have yet to savor. There is also the fact that 2021 marks the 20th Anniversary of the inn, and I know we have to do SOMETHING to celebrate! …but what… hmmm…

And so I sit here, and I dream. I take a sip of tea, pull the blanket more tightly around me, and let myself ponder everything this new year holds.

What lies ahead in 2021

At the inn

It’s our 20th Anniversary! We haven’t decided yet what we’re going to do to celebrate, but we DO want to mark the occasion somehow… Keep an eye on our website and social media to find out how can participate in our celebration.

Blog posts

  • Bowling Ball Beach. Not sure what in the world that is? Stay tuned to find out!

  • Glass Beach. Somehow, I have yet to write about this beach, one of the most well-known spots along our little section of coast.

  • Manchester Beach. It’s a little bit of a drive south from us, but lovely to add on to a day trip to Point Arena.

  • Casa del Sol. A fantastic little restaurant in Noyo Harbor.

  • The Bewildered Pig. Where they serve food you will never forget.

  • Disco Ranch. The coolest wine bar in Boonville.

  • A few more local artists and art galleries, because art IS Mendocino.

  • Some neat new wineries that you may or may not have heard of yet.

  • And of course, let us know if there’s some hike or eatery or experience in particular that you would like to see written up!

Happy New Year to all! May 2021 be full to the brim with joyful adventures!
